The Bangalore Gayana Samaja had arranged a programme on Sunday 5th November 2006 to pay homage to Dr. Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, who left us for his heavenly abode on 31st October 2003.

Rich tributes were paid by Sri. H. Kamalanath, President of Gayana Samaja, to the service to music by the maestro as vocalist par excellence, teacher and musicologist of exceptional calibre and achievements. He recalled the association of Semmangudi for over seventy years with Gayana Samaja, the longest for any artist in the history of the century-old Samaja.

Dr. N. Ramani gave a memorable flute concert accompanied by M. A. Krishna Swamy on violin, Vellore Ramabhadran on Mrudangam and N. Amruth on Khanjira. His selection of ragas and kritis were highly appropriate for the occasion and brought to memory the favourites of Semmangudi.
