Nadopasana Music Dais (Regd), a socio-cultural organization in Mumbai, formed by a small group of art loving youngsters, presented their annual three-day Saint Sadguru Thygaraja Music Festival from 3 to 5 February 2006 in Dombivli.
The event was well attended by music lovers from across Mumbai.
The fest featured kutcheris by Mathangy Sathyamurthy, Trichy S. Ganesan, T.N. Ashok, Ranjani Ramakrishnan, Sherthalai Ranganatha Sharma, Shyamala Sajnani a Bharathanatyam recital themed on the life of saint Thyagaraja by Ranjani Ganesan Ramesh and Mohinittam recital by the disciples of Udyogamandalam Shri Vikraman Pillai besides a group rendering of the pancharathna kritis.
The festival was hosted in an aesthetic ambience, with mega screens and state-of-the-art sound systems.
Since last year, in addition to hosting music concerts, Nadopasana has also been involved in social-service. On behalf of the music lovers, Nadopasana distributed food and clothing to over 400 families in Diva, who fell victim to the devastating Mumbai rains. A ‘Cancer relief fund’ has been launched and the first such financial assistance was given to a needy cancer patient in Kalyan, Mumbai.
Nadopasana also plans to organise educative programmess for students, workshops/demonstrations for performing artistes, Carnatic music appreciation events, innovative concerts and a Bi-monthly magazine dedicated to music.
