A three-day music festival, dedicated to Voleti Venkateswarulu, is to be held from February 16 to 18, 2006 at Ravindra Bharathi premises, Hyderabad.
The fest is being organised by Sukrita Vedika, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh and Dr. Jandhyala Dakshina Murthi Memorial Trust.
On Feb.16, CDs featuring a live concert of Voleti will be released, followed by a 30-minute audio, video/photo presentation on Voleti Venkateswarulu. Music concert features Malladi Suri Babu and Narayana Sarma - senior disciples of Voleti.
Guests include Voleti Vijayalakshmi, M. Satyanarayana, Minister for Culture, Spencers Venugopal (Vageyyakara, Chennai), Nedunuri Krishna Murthy and Annavarapu Ramaswamy.
Feb. 17: Contribution of Voleti by GNS Raghavan, music concerts by Dr. Muralidhar (Narayana Hridayalaya, Bangalore) and Malladi Brothers.

Voleti Venkateswarulu (1928 - 1989) was one of the most prominent musicians of the 20th century. Born in Rajahmundry, he learnt music initially for 10 years from M. Venkata Rao Pantulu garu, and later underwent exclusive training for 3 years under Dr. Sri Pada Pinakapani.
He served as a producer of carnatic music programmes at AIR, Vijayawada from 1966 onwards. Amongst his various contributions, his music lesson programs and Bhakthiranjani were prominently appreciated by the listeners.
Voleti's style represents both the Carnatic tradition as well as Hindustani.
