Thyagaraja Aradhana in California

A day long Thyagaraja Aradana utsavam was celebrated at the Malibu temple, California, this week. After the puja, welcoming the gathering was done by the volunteer group of Arun, Gopi and Giridar, Cultural president of the Malibu temple. Ganasaraswathy, along with her group of volunteers and her disciples, hosted the utsavam.

The speciality of this utsavam was the rendering of compositions of not only those of Saint Tyagaraja but also those of other composers. After rendering the pancharatna kritis of Thyagaraja, by the group, there were solo recitals by different artistes that included a rendering by Sangeetha Rao.

The volunteer group of Arun, Sangeetha, Gopi, Krishnan Srinivasan, Krishnan, Soumya, Subha rendered the song of Tyagaraja `Ra Ra Sita’ in the Raga Hindolavasantham. Ganasarasaraswathy seeing the form of Lord Venkateswara, the presiding deity of Malibu in CA composed a song in the raga Chakravagam `Bhuloga Vaikunta’ and rendered it on the spot.

Students of Ganam, Babu Parameswaran, Delhi Sunderrajan, Muralikrishna, Rose, Tiruvaiyaru Krishnan, Kalyani Sadhanandan did a presentation at the end of the Utsavam.
