Bangalore based Vidwan R.K. Srikantan Trust hosts its 11th annual Sankranti music festival and the 86th birthday celebration of R.K. Srikantan, from January 7 to 13, 2006 at Seva Sadan Hall, Malleswaram, Bangalore.
The Governor of Karnataka, Trilokinath Chatrurvedi inaugurates the fest and releases the monograph, 'Music Criticism - Principles and Practice', authored by Dr. R. Sathyanarayana. A book titled 'haridasa Keerthana Rathnamala' will also be released on this occasion.
H. Kamalanath, President, Bangalore Gayana Samaja, M.R. Doreswamy Itengar, President, Malleswaram Sangeetha Sabha, senior music critics K.S. Mahadevan and B.R.C. Iyengar will be felicitated on this occasion.
A symposium on music criticism will be held at 9.30 am on January 8.
Music concerts will be held at 5.15 pm and 7 pm from Jan. 9.
