| She is probably the grand old lady of Chennai. A keen promoter of arts who makes sure she is there in the first row at most music, dance events in Chennai. And takes the mike at the end of the show, with words of encouragement, especially if it was young artistes on stage. Mrs. Y.G. Parthasarthy. This Sunday (November 27, 2005) will see an artistic tribute to Mrs. YGP (as she is popularly known), on her 80th birthday. An evening of dance performances is scheduled from 4 pm onwards at The Music Academy's auditorium, Alwarpet, Chennai. A series of short thematic performances feature the 'Yuva Kala Bharathi' awardees of Bharat Kalachar and a host of other top artistes - both Carnatic musicians and classical dancers. A video presentation on Mrs. YGP is also part of the event. A well known educationist, Mrs. YGP heads the PSBB schools in Chennai and is the Chairman of Bharat Kalachar.
