A two-day seminar on 'Navagrahas and Music' was hosted by Sri Lalithakala Academy Foundation, in Bangalore recently. It was organised with financial assistance from the Department of Tourism and Culture, New Delhi.
Based on the unique 'Navagraha Compositions of Muthuswamy Dikshitar' the seminar featured lecture demonstrations, vocal concerts by veteran artiste R. K. Srikantan and Bellur Sisters and a dance performance themed on Navagraha, choreographed by Mysore based dancer Uma Rao.
The programme was inaugurated by Rani Satish, former Kannada and Culture Minister.
R. K. Srikantan gave vivid details of 'Raga Lakshanas' of the Navagraha composition besides his vocal concert covering all the nine kritis of Muthuswamy Dikshitar.
Prof. C. A. Sridhar from University of Mysore and a flautist spoke on the various aspects of astrology and music.
