Chennai based MGR-Janaki College of Arts and Science for Women offers
M.A Natya (Performing Arts - Music, Dance & Drama), a five-year integrated course, starting from this academic year (2005).
On completing three years of the course, the students will be awarded a B.A Natya Degree.
Subjects like History, Ancient Indian Culture, Sculpture, Painting, Architecture and Philosophy, Nattuvangam, Choreography and
Direction, allied to the Performing Arts are part of the syllabus.
This degree will be awarded by the University of Madras and it is the first time in the history of 150 years of the University that a five
year integrated M.A Degree course in Natya has been started. The faculty who will be handling the classes include Rajshree
Vasudevan (M. Phil in Performing Arts and disciple of Padma Subramaniam) and musician Rukmani Ramani among others.
Applications will be issued at the college from 16 May, 2005, from 9 am to 5 pm.
