Music treat at Hulimavu / Bangalore

Srimadvadiraja Aradhana Trust and Sri Sharada Kala Kendra organized the Thyagaraja and Purandaradasa Aradhana at Sri Vadiraja Kala Bhavana a beautiful auditorium in Hulimavu in the outskirts of Bangalore, recently. On the occasion of the Aradhana celebrations there were two concerts and a Ghoshti Gayana.

A vocal concert featured Harsha and Vinay two youngsters, who presented their first duet concert. Vinay a talented young vocalist from Bangalore has won appreciation from various places. Harsha, another young vocalist who is doing his final year Engineering at NIT, Trichy travels regularly to Bangalore for the purpose of music.

B.K. Raghu and B.S. Anand, supported on the violin and mridangam respectively.

Sahana Ramachandra was another young vocalist who was featured in this fest. Sahana is one among the many young artistes who belong to the Vidwan R.K. Padmanabha's school.

Sahana was accompanied by senior artistes of Karnataka, Vidwan B. Raghuram on the violin, vidwan C. Cheluvaraj on the mridangam and Vidwan M.A. Krishnamurthy on the ghatam.

Then there was Ghoshti Gayana of Pancharatna Krithis by about 500 people. Vidwan R.K. Padmanabha goes to various places in Bangalore every week to teach various compositions of Thyagaraja, Dikshitar, Syama Shastry and many others.About 500 - 600 people are trained now to perform in Goshti. RKP has a dream to make a 1000 voice Goshti, which will happen this June, he announced.

There are four Aradhanas celebrated in Vadiraja Bhavana every year under the leadership of R.K.Padmanabha - Thyagaraja & Purandaradasa, Vadiraja, Vasudevacharya and Dikshitar. And any function that happens in Vadiraja Bhavana sees around 1000 people or even more. Many well known artistes have performed here.
