Natyanjali at Nataraja temple / Chidambaram
'Natyanjali' the annual dance festival at Chidambaram's famed Nataraja temple, will be held from March 8 to 12, 2005. Commencing on Shivarathri, this is the 24th edition of the festival. It showcases artistes representing various Indian classical dance styles from India and abroad. For more info, contact the Natyanjali Trust, 04144-222732.
Over the years, places close to Chidambaram, like Kumbakonam, Thiruvarur, Nagapatnam and Thanjavur have also started hosting Natyanjali festivals at their huge Saivite temples.
Natyanjali at Thiruvarur
On the occasion of Mahasivarathri, a Natyanjali dance festival will be held from March 4 to 8, 2005 at the Tyagaraja Swami temple in Thiruvarur, South India.
The fest features Sreemathi (Mayiladuthurai), N. Balakumar (Nagapattinam), Ravi Sharma, Dakshayani Ramachandran, Deepak Venkatesh (Kumbakonam), Vijay Madhavan, Gopika Varma - Mohini Attam, Udumalai Sendhil (Coimbatore), Narendra Kumar, A. Lakshman, Parvathi Ravi Ghantasala, Binesh Mahadevan, Srekala Bharath, Sheela Unnikrishnan, M.S. Sarala (Karaikudi), Madurai R. Muralidharan, Meenakshi Chittaranjan, Thirukoneswarar (Swiss), Revathi Ramachandran, K.P. Chandrasekaran, Arooran Arun, Sadasivam, Lakshmi Nandini Krishnan, Thushara Srinivasan (Trichy), Abhinaya and Vedha Nandini.
Brahan-Natyanjali at Brihadeeswara temple / Thanjavur
Brahan-Natyanjali is the dance festival hosted on the occasion of Sivarathri at the world heritage site of Brihadeeswara temple in Thanjavur. The fest commences on Mahasivarathri evening, March 8 and will be held till March 10, 2005.
The fest is showcased at the 1000 years old Big Temple built by Raja Raja Chola. It is being organised by the Brahannatyanjali Foundation. The Foundation invites applications from artistes who wish to perform at the Natyanjali here. For solo performances, applicants should have completed 16 years of age and arangetram. Dance-dramas and group performances are preferred.

Natyanjali at Adhi Kumbeswarar temple / Kumbakonam
The annual Natyanjali dance festival at Sri Adhi Kumbeswarar temple in Kumbakonam will be held from March 6 to 8, 2005. Dance performances will be held at a stage put up within the temple premises, with the backdrop of the huge temple gopuram, that creates a stunning effect when lit up in the night. Here, the festival concludes on Sivarathri evening.

Natyanjali at Kapaleeswarar temple / Chennai
A Natyanjali dance festival will be held at Sri Kapaleeswarar temple in Mylapore, Chennai from March 6 to 10, 2005. Dance recitals from 6 pm onwards at the temple will feature on March 6 - Revathi Ramachandran, on March 7 - a multimedia video on lord Siva presented by Pentamedia, on March 8 - Lakshmi Viswanathan.
Meanwhile, Chennai based dancers are invited to apply (only group performances) to participate in the dance festival scheduled at Kapaleeswarar temple on Sivarathri - March 8 (from 9 pm to 1 am), and on March 9 and 10 (6.30 pm onwards).
