Chennai based dance guru Hema Rajan received her doctorate degree in Education, at the convocation of the University of Madras, held last week. The degree was conferred on her by the Governor of Tamil Nadu, P.S. Ramamohan Rao.

Hema's doctoral thesis focussed on Education, Yoga and Meditation. Says she, "The aim of my research was to find a solution for the stress on a woman who has to shoulder the dual responsibilities, as a house wife and as a career woman."

Hema adds that she has conceived a comprehensive plan that provides women the stamina, emotional resilience, mental calibre and spiritual strength to meet the challenges of today.

Hema has been practising yoga for more than two decades, besides reiki and pranic healing. She heads the Nrithyopasana, school of dance and yoga at her R.A. Puram residence in Chennai.
