December Season Awards

DKP Honours for D.K. Pattammal

Narada Gana Sabha hosts its annual 'Isai Natya Nataka Vizha' from December 15, 2004 to January 1, 2005. The title of 'Nadhabrahmam' will be conferred on veteran Carnatic vocalist D.K. Pattammal and the 'Senior musician award' will be presented to Thanjavur L. Venkatesa Iyengar.

The fest will be inaugurated by Swami Dayananda Saraswathi. The sabha will hold its annual music competition on October 2 and 3. Application forms can be had from the sabha's office. Last date for submission of applications is September 28, 2004.

Priya SistersKartik Fine Arts will hold its annual festival of music and dance from December 1, 2004. The sabha has announced its awardees for the December Season this year. 'Isai Peroli' will be awarded to Carnatic vocalists Priya Sisters, 'Nadanamamani' to dancer Priya Jayaraman.

Nisha RajagopalThe 'D.K. Pattammal Award of Excellence' will be given to young vocalist Nisha Rajagopal. Kartik Rajagopal Golden Jubilee Award for 'Best Cultural Organiser' will be given to K.S. Venkataraman, Secretary, Mylapore Fine Arts Club.

The 'Isai Peroli' and 'Nadanamamani' titles carry a cash award of Rs. 15,000, medal and citation and will be given on December 1, at the festival's inauguration.

Bombay Sisters The 'Tamil Isai Vendar' award goes to vocalists Bombay Sisters. The award, carrying a cash award of Rs. 15,000, will be presented on Dec. 26 at the inauguration of the Tamil Isai Vizha at Valliammal College for Women, Anna Nagar. Also on this occasion, the 'Sirkazhi Govindarajan Memorial award' will be given to B. Krishnamurthy, Retd. Principal, Govt. Music College, Chennai.

Sri Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha will hold its 25th annual 'Isai Vizha' from December 9 to 31, 2004 at Vani Mahal, T. Nagar, Chennai.

On the inaugural day, the sabha honours Carnatic vocalist Aruna Sairam, Clarionet artiste A.K.C. Natarajan, E.M. Subramaniam and Bombay Gnanam with the award of 'Vani Kala Sudhakara'.
