Ananya's fest for young artistes

Bangalore based Ananya hosts its annual music festival, 'Sangati - Yuva Sangeethotsava' from May 5 to 9, 2004 in Bangalore. Young artistes from all over Karnataka participate in this annual event.

This fest is being held since the last two years and intends to provide an opportunity for young artistes to showcase their talent. It is organised by Ananya in association with BTM Cultural Academy, Sri Ramalalithakala Mandira and Sri Tyagaraja Gana Sabha Trust.

The inauguration will be held on May 5 at Sri Vani Vidya Kendra, 2nd E-Block, Rajaji Nagar, Bangalore. Ananya has also instituted awards to recognise up coming musicians and honor senior artistes.

This year, the 'Ananya Puraskara' will be presented to vidushi M. K. Saraswathi, a senior vocal and veena artiste hailing from Mysore.

The 'Shastra Kausthubha' award (instituted this year) will be presented to musicologist Dr. T. Shachidevi. The 'Yuva Puraskara' for young artistes will be presented to G. Ravikiran (vocal), Mysore V. Srikanth (violin), Tumkur B. Ravishankar (mridangam) and S.V. Balakrishna (morsing).

The awards will be presented at a function on 9 May at 9 am at Bangalore Gayana Samaja. The young awardees will present a recital. A special instrumental ensemble directed by Anooru Ananthakrishna Sharma will also be presented on the occasion. The fest features concerts by young artistes at various venues in Bangalore.
