Well known Bharatanatyam dancer Alarmel Valli has been conferred the award of Chevalier des Arts et Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters). This award conferred by the Minister of Culture and Communication, Govt. of France, honours those who have distinguished themselves in the field of art and have contributed to the spread of culture in France and abroad.
Plans are on to confer this award on Valli at a special ceremony in Delhi or Mumbai.
