Homage to Rukmini Devi

The Kalakshetra parampara paid homage to Rukmini Devi, through a dance and music festival held at the Besant Nagar Vinayakar temple recently in Madras.

The fest opened with a music concert by the disciples of veena artiste Rajeswari Padmanaban, who was long associated with Kalakshetra.

Sandhya Murali and Deepti Vishnubharateeyan opened the Bharatanatyam festival. Andrea Luchese (USA) and Naoko Mori (Japan) also took part besides some of the best among the alumnae of Kalakshetra and Bharatakalanjali. The fest was co-ordinated by the Dhananjayans.
