Rasikas donate to Kinkini's Dance Fest in Bangalore
A large turnout of audience for the programmes of Kinkini, a cultural organisation of Bangalore, pleased its hosts.Its national level festival of classical dance held in late January drew a spontaneous audience response for financial support.. The event was held at H N Kalakshetra in Jayanagar VII Block .

The festival was inaugurated by Vimala Rangachar , Chairperson, Crafts Council of Karnataka .There were two programmes on each day . In all, twenty two dancers participated in the festival, They included Bala Kondala Rao and her disciples from Vishakapatnam , Priyadarshini Govind, Bharatanatyam dancer from Chennai , Dr. Neena Prasad, Mohiniattam dancer from Thiruvananthapuram , Ramya Ram Narayan and Hema Vaidyanathan, Bharatanatyam dancers from USA besides Bangalore-based artistes .

The inaugural dance was presented by six young disciples of guru Radha Sridhar and this was followed by a Bharatanatyam dance by Karnataka Government Bala Prathibhe award winner, Aishwarya Nithyananda .

Dancers Sridhar and Anuradha presented a dance feature titled 'Kumara Sambhavam' for which the late Jahnavi Jayaprakash had composed music .

Other local artistes who performed on subsequent days included Bhanumati and her group 'Bharatanjali', Nirupama Rajendra , Mridula Rao , Suma Nagesh and Padmini Ravi.

The show went off well becaquse the hosts kept to the schedules, the speeches were kept to a minimum and when the organisers informed the audience of the difficulties of raising resources to meet the expenditure of the festival of this magnitude inspite of sponsorship support Kinkini has been receiving, the rasikas contributed whatever they had. The donations came up to a neat sixteen thousand rupees.

On the penultimate day of the festival, a Forum of Artlovers of Kinkini's programmes was floated.
