Thyagaraja Festival / Delhi

Sree Shanmukhananda Sangeetha Sabha, New Delhi holds its annual Thyagaraja Music and Dance Festival from 22 February to 4 March, 2003.

The eleven-day fest features 25 programmes. Prominent artistes from Madras participating in the festival are musicians N.Ramani (Flute), Sudha Raghunathan, T.V.Sankaranarayanan, Charumathi Ramachandran, Bombay Jayasree, T.M. Krishna, Hyderabad Brotherss, Ganesh & Kumaresh (violin duet) Vijayalaxmy Subramaniam, Mala Chandrasekher (Flute) and Jayanti Mohan. The participating dancers are Anita Ratnam, Parvathi Ravi Ghantasala and Urmila Satyanarayanan.

Besides, ten well known artistes from Delhi like musicians Vidya Srinivasan, O.S. Sudha Raghuraman, Vasantha Sundaram, Nirmitha Narasimhan, Mahalaxmi, Saraswathi Rajagopalan, Manikandan and dancers Anuradha Venkatraman, Sukhanya Venkatraman, Meenakshi Menon and Kasturi Deshpande take part. Dancer Srikala Bharath presents a group production, 'Tyagaraja Vaibhavam'.

The sabha also presents awards to artistes. They are 'Nada Kalanidhi' for N. Ramani, 'Nadha Bhushanum' for Charumathi Ramachandran and T.M. Krishna, 'Natya Ratna' for Krishnakumari Narendran and Anita Ratnam and 'Natya Ilavarasi' for Parvathi Ravi Ghantasala and Urmila Satyanarayanan. The awards will be conferred on the on the inaugural day of the fest.
