Silver jubilee of dance school / U.S

DhananjayansArpana, a three-day festival of Indian classical dance and music will be held on 5, 6 and 7 July 2002, at MIT's Kresge Auditorium, Cambridge, MA.

The fest marks the silver jubilee of Nrityanjali, a Bharathanatyam dance school based in Lexington, MA, founded by Bharathanatyam dancer, Jothi Raghavan. Musicians and dancers from India will collaborate with local artistes in the performances.

Lakshmi Viswanathan'The Indian Arts: An Invisible Thread' is the theme of the workshops and panel discussions that will focus on how the Indian performing arts have flourished in the U.S., its impact on the Indo-Americans in keeping alive a cultural identity. Dance performances feature students of Nrithyanjali, the Dhananjayans and Lakshmi Viswanathan (who will present the 'Banyan Tree').
