At a warm function at Narada Gana Sabha mini hall on 27 December, dancers, arts promoters and rasikas came together to felicitate yester-year actress and dancer Kamala, on her being conferred the Platinum Jubilee award by The Music Academy.

The function was organised by The Association of Bharatanatyam Artistes(ABHAI), Natyarangam and Sruti.

A silk saree was presented to the senior dancer.(The saree was gifted by Nalli Kuppuswami Chetty, when the organisers when to shop at his store in T. Nagar).
Felicitations were offered by dance gurus K.J. Sarasa, Nirmala Ramachandran, Dr. N. Pattabhiraman and R. Krishnaswamy, Secretary, Narada Gana Sabha.
Dr. Pattabhiraman suggested that a one-day analytical seminar be held next year on 'Kamala's dance and her contribution".

After the felicitation, it was announced that a video film with clippings featuring Kamala would be screened, and to the disappointment of many rasikas, a video- taped dance performance of a teeny-weeny student of Kamala, was screened!
