Honours for dancer Rathna Kumar / Houston

For her 30 years of service to classical arts, Houston based dancer and choreographer Rathna Kumar was honored this year at the 28th Thyagaraja Aradhana Festival in Cleveland, with the title of 'Nrithya Seva Mani', presented by the Bhairavi Indian Fine Arts Society.

On May 20, Rathna will also receive an award in the Performing Arts category from the Asian Pacific American Heritage Society in Houston.

Earlier this year, the Telugu University, Hyderabad, named Rathna as the Chairman, Board of Studies, USA, for on-line courses in Kuchipudi, a first of its kind in North America.
