US tour: Showcase of Bharatanatyam and Odissi

Pittsburgh based Srishti Dances of India announces its fourth national tour of Indian classical dance, 'Yugma: Odissi, Bharatanatyam, Sculptural, Kinetic' which will tour the United States in the Spring 2006 arts season. 'Yugma', meaning ‘together’ in Sanskrit will feature two classical dance styles by well acclaimed artistes from the United States and India - Odissi by Sreyashi Dey and Manoranjan Pradhan and Bharatanatyam by Nalini Prakash and Vijay Palaparty.

Sreyashi Dey is the Founder and Artistic Director of Srishti Dances and Manoranjan Pradhan is from the Orissa Dance Academy, Bhubaneshwar. Nalini Prakash, a senior disciple of Prof. Sudharani Raghupathy is the Founder and Director of Silambam, an institution of fine arts in Coonoor, India and Vijay Palaparty, a company member of Srishti Dances, Pittsburgh.

The tour itinerary:

March 30: Washtenaw Community College Theatre, Ann Arbor, MI
April 1: Phoenix, AZ
April 2: Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN
April 8 & 9: Kelly Strayhorn Performing Arts Center, Pittsburgh, PA
April 14: Newmark Theater, Portland, OR
April 16: Whitman College, Walla Walla, WA
April 27: SUNY Plattsburgh, NY
April 28: Rochester, NY
May 13: Columbus, OH

Srishti collaborates with performing artistes from around the world and regularly organises performances, lecture-demonstrations, master classes and multimedia presentations.
