The annual Thyagaraja Aradhana at Cleveland, U.S.A is scheduled to be held from April 15 to April 23, 2006.
One of the largest Indian classical music festivals in North America, it was first celebrated in 1978 and has now grown to a week-long festival with more than 2000 attendees every year. This is the Aradhana's 29th year here.
More than 45 concerts, lectures and workshops have been scheduled.
The music competition will be held on April 14 at Cleveland State University.
Some of the artistes participating in the Cleveland aradhana include Subhan Kasim and Subhan Babu (nadaswaram), Carnatic musicians Sudha Raghunathan, Ranjani-Gayathri, Manda Alamuru Sudharani, T.V. Ramprasadh, students of N. Ramani, Aruna Sairam, Gayathri Sankaran, Toronto Iyer Brothers, Sarojini Sundaresan, Kiranavali Vidyasankar, Rama Ravi, N. Ravikiran, Ashok Ramani, Savitha Narasimhan, Mala Chandrasshekar, S. Sowmya, Carnatic Brothers, Palghat Ramprasadh, T.M. Krishna, Neyveli Santhanagopalan, S.R. Janakiraman and M.S. Sheela.
A dance recital will feature Sujatha Srinivasan and her group.
Dance gurus Nirmala Ramachandran and Adyar K. Lakshmanan will present a lecture-demonstration and workshop on dance, while senior mridangist Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman will present a lec-dem along with N. Ravi Kiran (Chitravina) and Akkarai Subhalakshmi (violin).
