Bangalore Gayana Samaj, Bangalore is celebrating the birth centenary of Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, the doyen of Carnatic music with a two week-long festival from July 20 to August 3..
This will also include the Samaj's 40th Music Conference.
The conference will be presided over by veteran vocalist Bellary M Venkateshachar. He will be conferred the title Sangeetha Kalarathna' at the Sadas on August 3. Concerts featuring the top ranking artistes will be held every evening from July 20.

On July 25 evening, there is a multimedia presentation designd by S. R. Sitharam on Semmangudi. It includes concert clips of the veteran.
This production has been conceived and presented by violinist H. K. Venkatram with assistance provided by the Saralaya Sisters.

On the next day, Mohiniattam dancer Gopika Varma performs to the compositions of Swati Tirunal.
