Salem R. Shriram, a young talented Carnatic vocalist, started performing at the tender age of eight in the presence of eminent musicians like Dr. M.S. Subbulakshmi, Dr. Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, Dr. K. J. Yesudoss, and religious icons like Paramacharya of kanchi Kamokoti peetam, Kripananda Vaariyar, Srirangam Srimath Andavan, and others. He has been awarded the titles, Sangeetha Bala Bhaskara (conferred by Pudukkotai Srimath Sandananda swamigal in 1986) when he was just 8 years old and has received further prestigious titles and awards since then. He was initiated into Carnatic Music by Ms Meera in salem and then came under the able tutelage of Shri T.V. Gopalakrishnan. Shriram was eventually tutored by Shri. Calcutta K. S. Krishnamurti, who taught him about the nuances in Carnatic Music. Shriram holds a Masters degree in computer engineering from the U.S.of A. However, Shriram has not let his academic pursuits deter him from the path of music. He continues to perform, both in Chennai music season and in major carnatic music festivals in the USA. He sings with zeal and enthusiasm, making a mark in the field of Carnatic Music.
