Kum. Sweta Ravisankar is a dancer with high passion and involvement in Bharatanatyam. Her discipline and dedication worth a mention. She is a recipient of the two year Senior Scholarship in Bharathanatyam by Ministry of Culture, Government of India. She is a 'Visharad' in Bharata Natyam with distinction, pursuing MFA in Bharata Natyam.
Kum. Sweta Ravisankar has grown under the tutelage of Guru Smt. Padmini
Radhakrishnan of Soundarya Natya Kalalaya, Ghatkopar, Mumbai since 1993.
She is pursuing her passion with Guru Smt.Roja Kannan in Chennai from May
2009.
After Arangetram in January 2001, she has given several acclaimed solo Bharata Natyam recitals under various prestigious banners in Mumbai, Dombivli, Pune, Satara (Uttara Chidambaram), Chennai, Pollachi, Coimbatore, Guruvayur and also in Natyanjali Festivals at Chidambaram, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur, Chennai.
She has learnt Nattuvangam during her Scholarship period and has supported her Guru.smt.Padmini Radhakrishanan on Vocal and Nattuvangam on select
occasions and has also accompanied Bharatanatyam Artistes on the
Nattuvangam individually.
Her name has been enrolled in the South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur .
Selected by Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nataka Manram under the scheme of Promotion of Young Talented Artists in Bharata Natyam and performed in four different prestigious organizations in Tamil Nadu.
Recognition has come in the form of Awards, Scholarships, Prizes and Titles for
Sweta apart from praise from critics and the press.
Legends like Kalaimamani K.J. Sarasa, Padmashri Lalgudi Jayaraman and
Dr. M Balamuralikrishna have witnessed her programs in Chennai and blessed her. Fortunate enough to perform before Pujya Guru Swami Thejomayanandaji
of Chinmaya Mission and be blessed by him.
Born in 1986, she is a B.Tech graduate in Biotechnology from D.Y.Patil Institute of Biotechnology, Navi Mumbai. She is presently in Chennai. She has the
experience of working in the Research & Development department of Life Cell
International Pvt. Ltd. a stem cell research company.
She has been awarded the Founder’s Scholarship under
Cultural Track Record into M.Tech , Biotechnology from Aug 2009 by SRM
University, Kattankulathur, Tamil Nadu.
