Lavanya answered her calling to Bharathanatyam at the age of four when she came under the tutelage of the noted Bharathanatyam Guru, Kalaimamani Smt. K. J. Sarasa of Sarasalaya.

She had her arangetram at the age of seven, and since then, has given more than five hundred performances all over India and abroad. Her talent has been recognized in the form of several awards and titles, the most noted being "Yuva Kala Bharathi", the prestigious award given every year to honour outstanding talent amongst youth in art by the cultural organization, Bharat Kalachar.

Today, Lavanya imparts training in Bharathanatyam at her Academy of Classical Dance, Abhyasa and also through lecture-demonstrations and presentations at various forums.
She is also a part of the faculty at "Arsha Vidya Gurukulam", the center started by Pujya Shri Swamy Dayanantha Saraswathi to impart cultural education to children.

Lavanya is also an accomplished nattuvangam artiste, an imaginative choreographer of Bharathanatyam ballets and productions, and a television hostess for a leading Tamil TV network.

Her Bharathanatyam has been appreciated by all leading luminaries of the art form, and her performances have received rave reviews from the press.

 Lead roles in dance ballets like Shree Padam, Vikrama Urvasiyam, Kundrakudi Kuravanji, Viralamalai Kuravanji, Meenakshi Kalyanam and     Nritya Rasodaya.

 Dance productions based on works of Saint Thyagaraja, Maharaja Swati Tirunal and from the Ramayana.

  Performed at most leading Sabhas and Festivals.





  Recipient of National Scholarship under the cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme initiated by The Center for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), New Delhi since 1990.

 Titled "Natya Ranjani" by Shankarabharanam Trust in 1991.

 Chosen as the Outstanding Young Citizen of Coimbatore by Cotton City Junior Chamber in 1992.

 Won the Balasaraswathi Endowment Prize for the best Bharathanatyam performance at the 43rd Art and Pongal Dance Festival at Sri Krishna Gana Sabha in 1999.

 Conferred the title "Swayam Prakasa Narthaki" by Sarasalaya during its Golden Jubilee celebrations in 1999.

 Titled "Natya Tharakai" by Salangai Oli Trust in 2001.

 Conferred with the prestigious "Yuva Kala Bharati" by Bharat Kalachar in 2002.

 Honoured with the Young Achiever Award by Rotary Club of Coimbatore      Metropolis in 2002.

 Honoured with the Woman Achiever Award by Sri Ramakrishna Mission in 2003.

 Titled "Natya Mayuri" by Natyanjali Trust in 2006.
