  Lec-dems / Workshop
Some of the sabhas organise seminars and lec-dems on South Indian arts. Usually held in the mornings, they are open to all.

These sessions are very useful to students of music or dance. The schedule of such events are posted here as and when we receive them from the organisers.

Dance greats to lead workshops: Dec.26 onwards

Prayathnam is planning to organise a workshop in association with Sri Krishna Gana Sabha’s Naatya Kala Conference (NKC) between 26th and 30th of December.

Kalakshetra's camp for dancers in Jan 2011

Kalakshetra Foundation offers a winter dance camp for Bharatanatyam dancers, teachers and choreographers who want to acquire a deeper understanding of the art form with pluralistic multidisciplinary training from experienced teachers in the field, with boarding and lodging facilities at Kalakshetra.

This camp is from 3rd January 2011 to 12th January 2011

Lec-dems for music rasikas

Music Forum is organising a three day Lec Dem series for music rasikas on December 19. 20 and 21 at TAG Center, Alwarpet. Exponents like Vedavalli,.Pappu Venugopal Rao, S. R.Janakiraman, Guruvayur Dorai, Suguna Purushothaman Seetha Narayanan, Dr. Sunder, Shriram Parasuram, Chitravina N. Ravikiran. Shriram Kumar and others will take part.

The Music Academy lec-dems

The Music Academy will launch the academic part of its annual conference on Dec.16 and it will run till Jan.1, 2011. The Bombay Sisters will preside over the sessions.

They are two sessions every morning, starting at 8.05 a.m.

Among the scholars and artistes who will present papers are Dr Padma Subrahmanyam's paper on ' Brihadeswara Temple: Its influence on Music and Dance' and Suguna Varadachari on ' Niraval Singing for Pallavi and kritis; The Bombay Sisters themselves present a lecture on ' Tyagaraja's popular kritis in rare ragas and rare kriti-s in popular ragas.

These sessions are open to all. They end on time for rasikas to catch the first concert of the day at the main hall of the Academy.
