New faces in the Academy team
Writer-historian V. Sriram has been co-opted to be part of the Executive Committee of The Music Academy.
What role does he want to play?
In his own words, Sriram states -
I feel privileged to be a part of the Academy's committee though I also feel sad that it was owing to the passing of S V Ramaswami who was a good friend, that a vacancy arose in the first place.
To me, the Academy has always been an iconic institution and I was always fascinated by its history and heritage- an 84 year-old unbroken tradition.
It was great fun working on its history last year. I realised that it was built up by some great sacrifices by various individuals who had a vision.
My role is that of a Committee Member. I hope to take an active part in the lec-dem sessions in the morning and also be of assistance to Dr Pappu Venugopala Rao in matters concerning the library, the journal and other academic activities.
Former Chief Election Commissioner, V. Gopalaswami has also been co opted into the Academy team but higher in the pecking order.
