Dr. Ganesh, the Carnatic vocalist and prathama sishya of Maharajapuram Santhanam is a resident of K K Nagar. Kartik Fine Arts sabha based in Mylapore selected him for the 'Isai Peroli' award at this year's music festival.

Ganesh is also the man behind 'Irai Isai Payanam', a project that he devised to raise funds for the renovation of Arulmigu Pushpakuchambikai samedha Shri Shringeeswarar Temple at Meppedu, 25 kms from Poonamallee. Arcot Road Times' reporter V. Soundara Rani spoke to him about his work, his music.
Why did you take up the Meppedu temple project?
I am passionate about giving back to society and rededicating the gift (given to me) to God. Music is a tool to accomplish the task. It is a lesson I derived from the Nayanmar's service to Lord Siva.
And this is a temple dedicated to the cause of music and has a lot of scriptures pertaining to music.
