Sri Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha opens fest
The 27th Isai, Iyal, Nataka vizha of Sri Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha was inaugurated on Dec. 9 at Vani Mahal Chennai.
The title 'Vani Kala Sudhakra' was conferred on famed vocalist K. J. Yesudas, Violinist M. Chandrasekharan, mridangist Guruvayur Dorai, dancer Shylaja Ramji and drama artiste K. S. Nagarajan.
Students of Sri Devi Nrithyalaya performed a dance drama 'Parvathi Parinayam' after the inaugural function.
The fest is on till Dec.31, 2006.

Masters team up at a unique programme
Senior vocalist O. S. Thyagarajan, 'Chitraveena' Ravikiran and mridangam maestro Umayalpuram Sivaraman teamed up for a concert with young artistes Akkarai Subbulakshmi on violin and Sreesundar Kumar on the kanjira for Jaya TV's Margazhi Maha Utsavam on Dec. 5
Umayalpuram Sivaraman who was instrumental in bringing this team to the concert appreciated the support of the youngsters to the masters. O. S. Thyagarajan said while working with Ravikiran, he was fascinated at the information Ravikiran had on the composer Oothukadu Venkatakavi and wants to do an exclusive concert on the composer soon.
The team will be performing again for Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha at Vidya Bharati Kalyana Mandapam on Dec. 28 at 6.30pm

Mudra Fine Arts festival inaugurated
Run by musicians Radha and Bhaskar, the arts organisation Mudra inaugurated their annual music fest on Dec. 9 at Infosys Hall, Ramakrishna Mission Matric School, Bazullah Road, T. Nagar.
Mudra Award of Excellence was presented to Vani Jayaram, devotional and play back singer.
The inauguration was followed by Ghatam Karthick's HeArt Beat Ensemble.

Brahma Gana Sabha opens fest
December Art Festival of Brahma Gana Sabha was inaugurated on Dec. 3 at Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium, Mylapore.
Senior mridangist Umayalpuram Sivaraman was conferred with the title 'Gaana Padhmam'. Senior dance-guru Prof. Sugharani Raghupathy was awarded 'Naatya Padhmam' and senior drama artiste Koothapiran recieved the title 'Naataka Padhmam'.
The inauguration was followed by a nadaswaram recital by Thirupathi Sathyanarayana and party with the special tavil accompaniment by Valayapatti A. R. Subramaniam and party.
