December Season witnesses a rash of weekend festivals and commemorative events. No wonder every little hall in the Mylapore zone in Chennai gets booked fast.
The Sampoornam Foundation managed by saxophone artiste G. Ramanathan is hosting its annual music festival at Arkay Centre, Luz and this year, the fest is being held in memory of saxophone maestro Kadri Gopalnath who passed away recently in Mangaluru, Karnataka - his hometown.
The fest - from 11th to 14th December features a few young artistes. The Foundation's annual Viswanada Sagara award is to be given to mridangam vidwan Patri Satish Kumar on 14th December. It will be presented by Dr. T. V. Gopalakrishnan in the presence of T. S. Krishnamurthy, former chief election commissioner and vocalist Bombay Jayashri Ramnath.
