Kadamba - the 19th Natya Darshan Conference presented by Kartik Fine Arts will be held on 21 and 22 in Chennai.
Dancer and conference curator Priya Murle says that Kadamba aims to explore the physical, emotional and spiritual impact of the art form. 'As we explore the layers of poetry, through sangeetham and natyam - the ability to comprehend the intellectual and metaphysical state of mind increases.'
In addition to the conference, a few pre-events have been designed to cater to various age groups across the city. Open to all. The most recent was a talk by scholar Dr. Chithra Madhavan.

Performances by Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam, Prof. Sudharani Raghupathy, Shanta Dhananjayan and VP Dhananjayan, Chitra Visweswaran, and Rhadha. Venue - Forum Art Gallery, Adyar. On Dec.19, 11 am onwards.
The academic sessions cover themes 'Exploring the basic unit of vocabulary in Natyam – Thanjavur and other banis' and one on 'Influence of Bharatanatyam in Bhagavatamela and the spiritual connection between the two art forms', on 'The emotional and spiritual layers of Thevarams in Bharatanatyam' to presentations on Composing Music for Bharatanatyam productions'.
Natya Darshan will be formally launched on Dec.20.
