Veena-Venu-Violin concerts are a rarity. So you may want to check this out - this season, artiste B. Kannan is part of a group which will present two VVV concerts.
On Dec.13 evening at Ramarao Kala Mantap for Chennai Cultural Academy & on Dec.14 morning at Kamakoti Hall for Krishna Gana Sabha:
The artistes are - B. Kannan (madhura veena), C.K.Pathanjali (flute) & Bombay V. Anand (violin).
Kannan says he has been presenting VVV concerts for a long time. At Vivekananda College, Mylapore, Chennai where he studied, the team consisted of Kannan, M.A.Krishnaswamy (Violin) & K.R.Subramaniam (Flute). Later, the team included R.K.Shriram Kumar (Violin) and Karthikeyan (Flute). This was in the 80s.
Says Kannan, "We were on a winning streak (first prize winners) and were tops in the classical music section in practically every inter collegiate cultural fest in Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi and elsewhere!"
