The Music Academy, Chennai has announced its annual awards which are given to artistes at its annual music conference and concerts during the December Season. Vidwan T. V. Gopalakrishnan has been chosen for the prestigious Sangita Kalanidhi award.
The Natya Kala Acharya Award will be given to the well-known Bharatanatyam dancer and guru Leela Samson. This award will be presented at the inaugural of the Academy's Dance Festival on January 3, 2015.
The Sangita Kala Acharya award will be given to vocalists Mangad Natesan and Alamelu Mani.
Vocalist Malladi Suribabu and the Naama Sankirtanam artiste Udayalur Kalyanaraman will be decorated with the T.T.K. award. Padma Murthy has been selected for the musicologist award.
The Pappa Venkataramiah award for violinists is to be given to Lalgudi Rajalakshmi.
