The Music Academy Music Fest to start on Dec.15

The Music Academy has released its schedules for its music concerts and lec-dems as part of its annual Conference and Concerts. The 'season' here starts on December 15 with a concert by nagaswaram artise Injikudi Mariappan and tavil artiste D. Manimaran
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa will inaugurate the 86th Conference and Concerts of The Music Academy.
Jayalalithaa had agreed to inaugurate the event after Academy president, N. Murali met her to invite her for this Conference.
Jayalalitha was to have inaugurated the Conference in 2005 but had to skip the event in order to supervise flood relief management in the state.
Vocalist Trichur V Ramachandran is the Sangita Kalanidhi designate. He also presides over the lec-dems and Conference.
The Academy has kept to its tradition of five concerts every day, starting with seniors performing at the 9.15 am concert, allowing just enough time for rasikas attending the lec-dems in its campus to have a quick breakfast before settling down to some good music.
A quick run through the schedule shows Suchitra presenting Harikatha one morning and flutist Shashank keeps his date with a New Year concert.
Juniors like Revathy Kumar, Kotapalli Vandana and Kalpalathika get a slot here.
D Srinivas and the Jairaj couple, veena artistes are also to perform in the early afternoon slots.
Saketharaman is among the top artistes billed for the double-bill concerts for the evenings.
Yes, there is the Hindustani concert on Dec.31 - this time Uday Bhawalkar with drupad vocal and Ghatam Karthik's recently-created Sums(K) Rhythm closes the fest following the sadas on Jan.1, 2013 evening.
The lec-dems will be held in the mini hall as usual.
And after a day's break, the dance fest begins. On January 3.
At that opening session, guru Sudharani Raghupathy will be decorated with a title - Natya Kala Acharya.
From January 3 to 9, with two recitals in the morning featuring the up and coming and two in the evening, featuring solos by the best and dance productions following the solo recitals.
