From Mylapore to Kilpauk in western Chennai is a big hop that Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Chennai Kendra made this week. It wound up its music fest at its hall in Mylaore and launched its dance fest in Kilpauk.
.Now, the BVB-TAG Centre auditorium is state of the art space for the arts and sits in the large campus of Rajaji Vidyashram school here.
Some days ago, Dr Balamuralikrishna and ustad Zakir Hussain performed to a packed hall.
On Friday evening, Mike Nithavrianakis, the United Kingdom Deputy High Commissioner in Chennai opened the dance fest and decorated one of India's leading classical dancers, Priyadarshini Govind.
Priya later performed to a goodly crowd.
This is a new venue and the first evening was supported by teachers of the local school. Rasikas said they had to look around for the washrooms and drinking water.
One will need to watch how the neighbourhoods of Kilpauk and Anna Nagar respond to fests like these.
The fest goes on till Dec.27
