Chennai waking up to live music concerts

Palghat RamprasadYes, some 10 months after the music and dance halls and sabha spaces shut down due to the ravaging pandemic of Corona virus, and virtual concerts and festivals rained on rasikas, there are signs of live concerts taking place in Chennai.

This week ahead for the moment holds up three events -

This Carnatic music vocal concert is in commemoration of music maestro Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar. It will feature Palghat Ramprasad who will be accompanied by L. Ramakrishnan (violin ), Thiruvarur Bakthavathsalam (mridangam) and K. V. Gopalakrishnan (khanjira ).

The concert is on Jan. 23, 6.30 p.m. at Ragasudha Hall, Luz and is open to rasikas but regulations have to be followed.

This event is hosted by Shri Ariyakudi Music Foundation and ICCR, (Ministry of External Affairs), Chennai.

Rithvik Raja presents a Carnatic music vocal concert on Jan.25, 6.15 p.m. onwards as a commemoration of maestro D. K. Jayaraman at Raga Sudha Hall, Luz. It is available on the Parivadini Music YouTube channel.

Nagaswaram artiste Mylai M. Karthikeyan will be decorated with the Kalki Krishnamurthy award on Jan.26, 6 p.m. at Raga Sudha Hall, Luz. Later, the artiste will perform here. This concert will available on the Parivadini Music YouTube channel.
